MySQL

MySQL is one of the most widely used open-source relational database management systems (RDBMS). It stores data in tables, uses SQL for queries, and is owned by Oracle; MariaDB is a community-developed fork that is largely compatible.

MySQL is fast, reliable and easy to set up, and it powers many websites and applications, including WordPress and much of the classic LAMP stack (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP). Its default storage engine, InnoDB, supports transactions and foreign keys.
