Timezone Converter

Convert times between any two world timezones. Free, and it runs entirely in your browser — nothing you enter is uploaded.

How to use the Timezone Converter

1. Enter the date and time you want to convert.

2. Select the source timezone (where the time currently is).

3. Select the target timezone to convert to.

4. The converted time and Unix timestamp appear instantly.

What is it?

Time zones are a frequent source of bugs in software. When scheduling meetings, parsing API timestamps, or logging events, timezone-aware handling is critical. UTC (Coordinated Universal Time) is the global standard reference — all other timezones are expressed as offsets from UTC.

This tool uses the browser's Intl API (IANA timezone database) for accurate conversions across all world timezones, accounting for Daylight Saving Time (DST) transitions automatically. When working with APIs, always store and exchange timestamps in UTC and convert to local time only for display.

Example

10:00 AM New York → London
2024-01-15 10:00 · From: America/New_York · To: Europe/London
↓
Converted Time
Source: 01/15/2024, 10:00:00 AM EST
Converted: 01/15/2024, 03:00:00 PM GMT
Unix: 1705316400

DST is handled automatically. In summer NYC→London is +5h; in winter it's +5h (GMT) vs +4h (BST).

Benefits

Schedule meetings across time zones without mistakes

See the exact local time for every participant before sending a calendar invite — no AM/PM confusion, no DST guesswork.

Debug timezone-related bugs in server logs and timestamps

Confirm whether a logged timestamp is in UTC, local time, or a named timezone — and what that maps to in your local time.

Convert incident and deployment times for global post-mortems

Everyone on a retrospective report sees times in their own timezone — no one has to do mental UTC conversion.

Verify your application's timezone handling is correct

Check that a stored UTC timestamp converts to the correct local time in the target timezone for your users.

Frequently asked questions

What is UTC?

UTC (Coordinated Universal Time) is the primary time standard by which the world regulates clocks. It has no UTC offset and no daylight saving time. All other timezones are expressed as UTC±X.

Does this handle Daylight Saving Time?

Yes. The IANA timezone database used by the Intl API includes DST rules for all timezones, so conversions account for seasonal time changes automatically.

What is a Unix timestamp?

A Unix timestamp is the number of seconds since January 1, 1970 00:00:00 UTC. It is timezone-independent, making it the ideal format for storing and comparing times.
