Text Line Splitter

Split text by any delimiter and display each part on its own line. Free, and it runs entirely in your browser — nothing you enter is uploaded.

How to use the Text Line Splitter

1. Paste your text into the input field.

2. Enter the delimiter to split on (default: comma). Use \\n for newline or \\t for tab.

3. Toggle trim and filter options, then copy the split result — one part per line.

What is it?

Splitting delimited text into individual parts is one of the most common text processing tasks. Whether you have a comma-separated list of email addresses, a pipe-separated export, or a semicolon-delimited database dump, this tool instantly splits the text by any delimiter you specify and presents each part on its own line for easy reading or further processing.

The trim option removes leading and trailing whitespace from each part — useful when the source data has inconsistent spacing around delimiters. The filter option removes empty parts that result from consecutive delimiters or trailing delimiters in the input. Both options are enabled by default for clean output.

Benefits

Split comma-separated or pipe-delimited strings into individual lines

Make single-line delimited data readable and processable by putting each value on its own line — one click.

Break long configuration strings into reviewable lists

Comma-joined environment variable lists, tag strings, and option sets are easier to read and edit one-per-line.

Prepare delimited data for deduplication and sorting tools

Sort Lines and Remove Duplicates tools operate on one-per-line data — split your delimited string here first.

Split API response values rendered as joined strings

Some APIs join array values into a delimited string — split them back into individual lines to work with each item.

Frequently asked questions

Can I split by multiple characters?

The delimiter field accepts any string, including multiple characters. For example, enter ', ' (comma-space) to split on that exact sequence. For splitting by regex patterns, you would need a code-based approach.

How do I split by newline?

Enter \n in the delimiter field to split the input on newline characters. This is useful for processing multi-line text where each line is a separate value. The output will then show each segment on its own line.

What does the filter option do?

Filter removes empty strings from the result. These appear when your input has consecutive delimiters (e.g., 'a,,b' split by comma gives 'a', '', 'b') or a trailing delimiter (e.g., 'a,b,'). With filter enabled, only non-empty parts are included.
