How to use the Text Reverser
1. Paste or type your text in the left panel.
2. Choose what to reverse: individual characters, words, or lines.
3. The reversed result appears on the right โ click Copy to save it.
What is it?
Text reversal is useful in a surprising number of scenarios: testing palindrome detection algorithms, obfuscating text in games/puzzles, reversing the order of log lines (newest first), or just for fun. The three modes give you fine control over what exactly gets reversed.
Character mode reverses every individual character in the entire string. Word mode reverses the sequence of words while keeping each word intact. Line mode reverses the order of lines โ useful for flipping the order of a list or log file.
Example
Hello, World!
!dlroW ,olleH
Word mode: 'Hello World' โ 'World Hello'. Line mode reverses the order of paragraphs/lines.
Benefits
Reverse strings to test your application's string handling
Confirm that string reversal functions return correct results for edge cases โ empty strings, Unicode, multi-byte characters.
Detect palindromes by comparing original and reversed text
Reversed text that matches the original confirms a palindrome โ instantly verify any candidate word or phrase.
Test RTL text layout handling in your UI
Reversed Latin text simulates right-to-left text impact in components that need to support Arabic, Hebrew, or Persian scripts.
Create reversed or mirror text for creative and novelty purposes
Reversed text for artistic effects, inverted signatures, or CTF challenges โ characters, words, or lines each reversed independently.
Frequently asked questions
Does reversing characters affect Unicode or emoji?
Standard Unicode characters reverse correctly. However, complex emoji made of multiple code points (e.g., skin tone modifiers, ZWJ sequences like ๐จโ๐ฉโ๐ง) may break apart when reversed character by character. Word and line modes are safe for all Unicode.
How is word reversal different from character reversal?
Character reversal: 'Hello World' โ 'dlroW olleH'. Word reversal: 'Hello World' โ 'World Hello'. Word mode keeps each word intact but flips the sequence of words in the sentence.
What counts as a line?
Lines are separated by newline characters (\n). Each paragraph or line break in your text creates a new line entry. Line mode reverses the order these entries appear.
