How to use the Text Cleaner
1. Paste messy text (from PDFs, emails, documents) into the left panel.
2. Enable the cleaning options you need using the checkboxes.
3. The cleaned text appears on the right instantly — copy and use it directly.
What is it?
Text copied from PDFs, web pages, Word documents, or emails frequently contains invisible clutter: trailing spaces, double spaces, inconsistent line breaks, mixed case, and empty lines. Cleaning this text manually is tedious and error-prone.
This tool applies a series of transformations to remove common noise. Trim lines removes leading and trailing whitespace from each line. Collapsing spaces removes duplicate spaces created by copy-paste. Removing empty lines compresses multi-line gaps. All transformations are non-destructive and combinable.
Example
Hello World This has extra spaces and leading whitespace
Hello World This has extra spaces and leading whitespace
Trim + Collapse spaces + Remove empty lines applied. Perfect for cleaning up PDF copy-paste artifacts.
Benefits
Remove invisible formatting from pasted content
Text from PDFs, emails, and web pages contains invisible characters, double spaces, and non-breaking spaces that break downstream processing.
Normalise line endings before importing into a database or CSV
Mixed CRLF and LF line endings cause row count discrepancies and parsing errors in CSV imports and text processing pipelines.
Clean AI-generated text of padding and redundant phrases
Strip filler phrases and normalise spacing in LLM output before publishing or passing to another processing step.
Prepare content for Markdown or HTML conversion
Clean, normalised text converts to Markdown and HTML correctly — stray characters break heading detection, list parsing, and link formatting.
Frequently asked questions
Why does my text have extra spaces after pasting from PDF?
PDF files use absolute character positioning rather than flowing text, so when copied, text often contains extra spaces where characters were placed visually. The 'Collapse multiple spaces' option fixes this.
Can I combine multiple cleaning options?
Yes — all options are combinable. Enable as many as you need and the transformations are applied in sequence: trim → collapse spaces → remove empty lines → remove line breaks → case conversion.
What does 'Trim each line' do exactly?
It removes leading and trailing whitespace (spaces, tabs) from each individual line. This doesn't affect the spaces between words — only the spaces at the very start and end of each line.
