JSON to XML

Transform JSON objects into valid XML markup. Free, and it runs entirely in your browser — nothing you enter is uploaded.

How to use the JSON to XML

1. Paste a valid JSON object or array into the input.

2. Click Convert. The XML output wraps all content in a root element.

3. Copy the XML for use in SOAP APIs, configuration files, or data exchange.

What is it?

XML (Extensible Markup Language) is still widely used in enterprise systems, SOAP web services, and configuration files. This converter transforms JSON keys into XML element tags and JSON values into text content or nested elements.

JSON arrays become repeated elements with the same tag name. Special characters in values (&, <, >) are automatically XML-escaped. Key names that start with numbers or contain special characters are sanitized to be valid XML element names.

Example

JSON
{"user":{"name":"Alice","role":"admin"}}
↓
XML
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<root>
<user>
<name>Alice</name>
<role>admin</role>
</user>
</root>

Benefits

Feed JSON data into legacy systems that only accept XML

Enterprise systems — SAP, MuleSoft, IBM Integration Bus — still require XML input; convert your JSON payloads without writing a transformer.

Generate SOAP request bodies from JSON data

SOAP APIs require XML envelopes; convert your JSON payload to the XML structure the service expects.

Enable XSLT transformations on JSON-sourced data

Converting JSON to XML unlocks XSLT transformation pipelines for document formatting, report generation, and content publishing.

Bridge modern REST APIs with XML-based integration brokers

Middleware platforms often require XML; convert JSON responses to XML to feed into existing enterprise integration workflows.

Frequently asked questions

Is my data sent to a server?

No. All conversions happen entirely in your browser. Your data never leaves your device.

Are there size limits?

No hard limit, but very large files may slow the browser. For files over 10MB, consider a dedicated CLI tool.

Why is my JSON key renamed in XML?

XML element names cannot start with numbers or contain most special characters. The converter sanitizes keys by replacing invalid characters with underscores.
