How to use the JSON to CSV
1. Paste a valid JSON array (of objects) into the input field.
2. Click Convert. The CSV output with headers from JSON keys appears on the right.
3. Copy or download the result for use in Excel, Google Sheets, or any CSV tool.
What is it?
JSON is the standard format for APIs, while CSV is the dominant format for spreadsheets and data analysis. This tool takes a JSON array of flat objects and generates a CSV where keys become column headers and values become rows.
Nested objects and arrays inside values are serialized as JSON strings within the CSV cell. For best results, use flat (non-nested) JSON objects. The converter handles commas and quotes inside values by wrapping cells in double-quotes per the RFC 4180 CSV standard.
Example
[{"name":"Alice","age":30,"city":"NYC"},{"name":"Bob","age":25,"city":"LA"}]name,age,city Alice,30,NYC Bob,25,LA
Keys from the first object become the CSV header row. All subsequent objects become data rows.
Benefits
Share API data with non-developers instantly
CSV opens directly in Excel, Google Sheets, and Numbers — stakeholders get the data they need without a coding step.
Feed JSON data into analytics and BI tools
Tableau, Looker, Power BI, and most analytics platforms accept CSV natively — convert API responses directly.
Flatten nested JSON for database table imports
CSV format maps directly to table rows and columns — ready for SQL INSERT, COPY, or LOAD DATA statements.
Export API response arrays to spreadsheets for reporting
Stakeholders get a spreadsheet; you get the API — no ETL pipeline, no middleware, no custom export endpoint needed.
Frequently asked questions
Is my data sent to a server?
No. All conversions happen entirely in your browser. Your data never leaves your device.
Are there size limits?
No hard limit, but very large files may slow the browser. For files over 10MB, consider a dedicated CLI tool.
What if my JSON is nested?
Nested objects are serialized as JSON strings within the cell. For complex nested structures, consider flattening your JSON first.
