How to use the CSV to JSON
1. Paste your CSV data (with a header row) into the input field.
2. Click Convert to get a JSON array where each row becomes an object.
3. Copy the JSON to use in your code, API calls, or database inserts.
What is it?
CSV (Comma-Separated Values) is a plain-text format for tabular data. This tool reads the first row as column headers and converts every subsequent row into a JSON object using those headers as keys.
The parser handles quoted fields that contain commas or newlines, and escaped double-quotes per the RFC 4180 standard. Empty cells are converted to empty strings. The output is a JSON array of objects, ready to use in JavaScript, Python, or any API.
Example
name,age,city Alice,30,New York Bob,25,London
[
{
"name": "Alice",
"age": "30",
"city": "New York"
},
{
"name": "Bob",
"age": "25",
"city": "London"
}
]Benefits
Convert spreadsheet exports to JSON your API can consume
Turn CSV downloads into JSON arrays your backend, client, or data pipeline can ingest directly without a parsing step.
Migrate data from Excel to a modern data store
CSV-to-JSON is the first step in most data migration pipelines from spreadsheet systems to document databases or REST APIs.
Prepare visualization data for charts and dashboards
D3.js, Chart.js, Recharts, and Vega all work natively with JSON arrays — convert your CSV source data directly.
Parse third-party CSV reports into usable objects
Convert billing exports, analytics reports, or CRM dumps to structured JSON that your code can iterate and process.
Frequently asked questions
Is my data sent to a server?
No. All conversions happen entirely in your browser. Your data never leaves your device.
Are there size limits?
No hard limit, but very large files may slow the browser. For files over 10MB, consider a dedicated CLI tool.
My CSV has special characters — will it work?
Yes. Fields containing commas, newlines, or double-quotes should be wrapped in double-quotes in the CSV. The parser handles RFC 4180-compliant quoting automatically.
