QR Code Generator

Create QR codes from text or URLs. Free, and it runs entirely in your browser — nothing you enter is uploaded.

How to use the QR Code Generator

1. Enter any text or URL in the input field. The QR code updates in real-time.

2. Adjust the size (pixels), error correction level, and colors as needed.

3. Click Download to save the QR code as a PNG image.

4. Higher error correction levels allow the QR code to be read even if partially damaged.

What is it?

QR codes (Quick Response codes) are two-dimensional matrix barcodes that can store URLs, text, contact information, Wi-Fi credentials, and more. They were invented in 1994 by Denso Wave for tracking automotive parts and are now ubiquitous in marketing, payments, and contactless workflows.

QR codes have four error correction levels: L (7%), M (15%), Q (25%), H (30%) — the percentage indicates how much of the code can be damaged while remaining readable. Higher correction = larger code but more resilient. For URLs printed on paper, M or Q is usually ideal.

This generator creates QR codes entirely in your browser using the HTML5 Canvas API. No data is sent to any server, making it safe for sensitive information.

Benefits

Share URLs and contact details without typing on mobile

QR codes let users scan and open a link or save a contact instantly — no need to read or type a long URL.

Embed QR codes in print materials, packaging, and business cards

Download the generated QR as an image to embed in any print or digital asset — brochures, labels, presentations.

Link physical products and print materials to digital content

QR codes bridge offline assets to online documentation, order forms, videos, or support pages with a single scan.

Encode any text — not just URLs

Wi-Fi credentials, vCard contact data, app store links, plain text — any string encodes into a scannable QR code.

Frequently asked questions

What can I encode in a QR code?

Any text: URLs, Wi-Fi passwords, contact cards (vCard), email addresses, phone numbers, geo coordinates, or plain text. URLs are the most common use case.

What size should my QR code be?

For digital use, 256×256 pixels is standard. For print, use at least 300×300. QR codes need to be at least 2cm×2cm when printed for reliable scanning.

Which error correction level should I use?

M (15%) is the default and works well for most use cases. Use H (30%) if you're overlaying a logo on the QR code or printing in harsh environments.

Why won't my QR code scan?

Common issues: insufficient contrast between foreground/background colors, QR code too small, too much damage or noise, or using non-standard inverted colors (dark background, light foreground isn't always supported).

Is my data sent to a server?

No. QR code generation happens entirely in your browser using the canvas API. Your data stays private.
