Password Generator

Create strong, random passwords. Free, and it runs entirely in your browser — nothing you enter is uploaded.

How to use the Password Generator

1. Choose your desired password length using the slider (8–128 characters).

2. Select which character types to include: uppercase, lowercase, numbers, or symbols.

3. Click Generate Password to create a cryptographically secure random password.

4. Copy the password to your clipboard and store it in a password manager.

What is it?

A strong password is your first line of defense against unauthorized access. This generator uses the crypto.getRandomValues() Web API for cryptographically secure randomness — far more secure than Math.random().

Character diversity matters. Including uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols dramatically increases the number of possible combinations, making brute-force attacks infeasible. A 16-character password with all character types has over 10²⁷ possible combinations.

Always store generated passwords in a trusted password manager like Bitwarden, 1Password, or Dashlane — never in plain text files or spreadsheets.

Uses crypto.getRandomValues() — cryptographically secure. 16 chars with all types = 95^16 ≈ 4.4 × 10^31 possible passwords.

Benefits

Generate passwords that meet any policy requirement

Configure length, uppercase, lowercase, digits, and symbols to satisfy enterprise, government, or custom password policies exactly.

Create credentials that resist dictionary and brute-force attacks

Random character selection from the Web Crypto API produces passwords no dictionary attack can guess — unlike human-chosen passwords.

Replace human patterns with genuine randomness

Humans gravitate to patterns — words with number suffixes, keyboard walks — this tool produces output that is unpredictable by design.

New strong password every time, no reuse, no shortcuts

Generate a fresh unique password for every service and account — no substitutions, no patterns, no memorable choices that weaken security.

Frequently asked questions

Is this password generator truly random?

Yes. We use the Web Crypto API (crypto.getRandomValues) which provides cryptographically secure randomness, suitable for security-sensitive applications.

Are my passwords stored anywhere?

No. All generation happens entirely in your browser. Nothing is sent to any server. Your passwords are completely private.

How long should my password be?

For most accounts, 16 characters is a strong choice. For high-security accounts like banking or email, use 20+ characters.

Should I use symbols in passwords?

Yes, if the service allows it. Symbols greatly increase password entropy and resistance to brute-force attacks.

What is password entropy?

Password entropy measures unpredictability. Higher entropy means harder to crack. Each additional character and character type exponentially increases entropy.
