Motherboard

The motherboard is the main circuit board of a computer. It connects all the components and lets them communicate: the CPU, RAM, storage drives, graphics card, power supply and external ports all plug into it.

A motherboard contains the CPU socket, memory slots, expansion slots (such as PCI Express), storage connectors, the chipset that manages data flow, and the firmware (BIOS or UEFI) that starts the system. Its design decides which processors, memory types and devices a computer can use.
