Git

Git is a free, open-source distributed version control system created by Linus Torvalds. It records changes to files over time, so developers can see history, go back to earlier versions and work on features in parallel using branches.

Every developer has a full copy of the repository. Changes are saved as commits, combined with merge or rebase, and shared through remote repositories hosted on services such as GitHub, GitLab and Bitbucket. Git is the standard tool for source code management.
