Data processing is the process of manipulating data to produce meaningful information.

For example, 12, 'Lavanya', and 'Chennai' are data. This will not give any meaningful message.

Lavanya is 12 years old and from Chennai. This information is about Lavanya and conveys some meaning. This conversion of data into information is called data processing.
