Wi-Fi

Wi-Fi is a wireless networking technology, based on the IEEE 802.11 standards, that lets devices connect to a local network and the internet using radio waves instead of cables. A wireless router or access point broadcasts the network, identified by its name (SSID).

Wi-Fi uses the 2.4 GHz band, which reaches further, the 5 GHz band, which is faster, and with Wi-Fi 6E and 7 the 6 GHz band. Newer generations, named Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac), Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) and Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be), are faster and handle many devices better. Use WPA3 or WPA2 security with a strong password.
