EMI Interest Calculator
See exactly how much of your loan is interest — and how much a longer tenure actually costs you.
What tenure actually costs you in interest
| Metric | 15 years | 20 years | 25 years |
|---|---|---|---|
| Monthly EMI | ₹24,618 | ₹21,696 | ₹20,131 |
| Total Interest | ₹19,31,328 | ₹27,06,939 | ₹35,39,203 |
| Total Payment | ₹44,31,328 | ₹52,06,939 | ₹60,39,203 |
A longer tenure lowers your EMI but almost always increases total interest paid — this table shows the trade-off in rupees, not just months.

Why interest, not just EMI, is the number that matters
Two loans with very different tenures can have a similar-looking EMI, but wildly different total interest costs. Stretching a loan from 15 to 20 years might drop your EMI by only 10-15%, while adding years of extra interest — often tens of lakhs on a large home loan. This calculator puts the actual rupee cost of tenure choice front and center, using the same reducing-balance interest calculation Indian banks use.
